um..... O.o ......not that Penelope. I'm talking the book by Marylin Kaye. It is an easier read then what I normally take on, but the story is empowering and fantastic.
I was first turned on to it when babysitting my neices and nephew. It is the perfect starter book and after all, who doesn't love a book that teaches and inspires them to love themselves?
I don't want to give too much away, but short version is that the great great great grandfather of the main character had a fling with the serving girl and wanted to marry her, but he was part of a blue blood family and they refused to let him marry her. He married someone suitable and the serving girl commited suicide. This prompted the girl's witch mother to curse the family.
The curse was the next born girl to the Wilhern family would have the face of a pig (which, honestly isn't that bad. Karma could have been much worse to them, but vanity is big now-a-days.) The curse would be lifted when "one of their own took her, til death do they part".
The book then goes on to tell the reader about the life of the pig-faced girl. It spins a story of sadness, rejection, adventure, strong will, friendship, and most important of all, love. After all, what is a fairytale without love?
Like I said, it is an easy read, but a great starter book. Enjoy!
